Sign ups for GAFE...
Its been awhile pulling this together but now the RSU23 Educational Technology Team is ready to offer a free professional development course on learning Google Apps For Education (GAFE). It is a stated goal for the district to become a GAFE organization. This course is your opportunity to learn how to use this powerful set of online apps for you to work more efficiently, and smoothly incorporate the Google ecosystem into student learning.
These trainings will be a blended (in person and online) learning experience lead by our tech integrator & Google Certified Educator, Donna Stearns. The majority of work will be done "on your own" with plenty of instructional support available both in person and online. There will be two required "in person" classes. The first class (TBA) will present the course syllabus and iron out any technical issues. The second class (TBA) are when projects are presented. This is a beginner course. No "in depth" technology knowledge is needed.

Participants will use an online training program named Synergyse. Synergyse is an interactive training system for Google Apps. It’s an easy way for schools to improve productivity with user-friendly, guided instruction, inside Google Apps. Synergyse provides instructional support tutorials for Gmail, Docs, Drive, Sheets, Calendar, Slides, and Sites. Course participants will work independently through the tutorials and then complete a project to demonstrate proficiency. Participants may also choose to register for 4.5 C.E.U.'s through the USM Professional Development Center (a $20 USM registration fee is required to receive credit).
Those wanting C.E.U. credit need to bring a check (no cash) made out to USM for $20 to the registration session. Please post date the check for 5/13/14. (This is because USM will not accept checks over 30 days old and we won't be sending them to USM until the course is completed.)
Because of the storms we experienced this week, the in person sign ups have been pushed back to next week. See sign up schedule below:
You'll be hearing more from us soon on the actual start dates. The snow is pushing us back a bit.
Jameson - Thursday, 1/29, 3-3:30pm
Loranger - Tuesday, 2/3, 2:30-3pm
OOBHS - Wednesday, 2/4, 2-2:30pm
If you have further questions about the registration process or the course in general please email Donna Stearns or Bob Stackpole. We'll get right back to you.
We hope you choose to take advantage of this opportunity.
