Sometimes it can be difficult to consider a starting point for integrating technology in your teaching. We'd invite you to consider the SAMR model & the ISTE Nets-S as terrific starting points. The SAMR model outlines levels of enhancing technology integration while the ISTE-S standards outline expected student skill sets. Check out the details and resources below:
SAMR Model:
The SAMR model was created by a fellow Mainer, Dr. Ruben Puentedura. In short, the SAMR model outlines using technology from substitution, augmentation, modificaiton to redefinition. It serves as a terrific model of the various ways technology can impact teaching & learning. Let this model guide the transformation of technology integration in your classroom. The video & resources below dive deeper into SAMR and will give you a framework of integration progression for technology users of all abilities. |

ISTE NETS-S:
ISTE (International Society of Technology in Education) NET-S are the adopted technology standards in the state of Maine. These standards serve as a framework for the skills our students should have using technology in teaching and learning. When you start to explore them in depth, you'll see the standards go beyond the use of technology. Of course, technology is an integral part, but using technology to become fluent in the 4 C's (Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, and Critical Thinking) is at the heart of NET-S. Check out the resource below to get your started. Printing out a copy and keeping them handy for your planning is a great idea. |
